Sweet Babies

Our friend from church, John Gill, came over and took some great pictures of sweet Evie and Augie. We are so pleased with the way they turned out; what a difference it makes to have a professional photographer. Enjoy!

Evie and Augie meet

Augie's cousin, who was born on July 3, has come to visit. Below are pictures of Evie and Augie's first meeting.

Evie is ready to play, but Augie just wants to sleep.

Eye's Wide Open

We have studied our new son and still aren't sure who his looks favor most. Perhaps he looks more like J when she was a newborn.

He seems to dream a lot and squirms and whimpers during his dreams.

He's a healthy and handsome fella.

Praise the Lord!

Admission! Countdown...

Tough time waiting.

I think I'm ready...I think.

Professional contraction monitorers

We came to our office visit and J's blood pressure was high. She also had protein in her urine. The doctor thought that she was 2 to 3 cm, but I have come to realize that that is relative to the person measuring.

They sent us down to the 2nd floor to Labor and Delivery. After several tests they decided to admit us. Eventually the doctor broke J's water (that's amazing how much water is in there). Later they put her on pitosin with promotes strong contractions. She labored from approximately 2 to 7 until the pitosin overwhelmed her and we decided to get an epidural.

She's all smiles now. She is 5 cm and 80% efaced. We'll see what happens next. Right now we are waiting to see how she progresses.

Before epidural

...After

This just in! After 1.5 hours she dialated from 5 to 8 cm (which was confirmed by another nurse). She is 100% effaced and in a 1 position. The nurse estimated the baby would be delivered before midnight. We'll see.

Spinning for joy!

Past Due!

Baby Preston still has not arrived. I have a Dr's appointment today and we will find out what is going on. Mom and Dad Cummings arrived on Saturday evening. We are getting ready to take a nice long walk. B will keep things posted here.

Back in the summer of '73

In anticipation of the newest Preston to arrive, I thought I'd post a picture of some of the Prestons back in the summer of '73.

That's me on the bottom right.

Baby Update

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. No change from last week, a little thinning is all. We are scheduled for another ultrasound on Wednesday, doctor wants to check the size of the baby. She said she expects him to be at least 8 pounds (at least!, oh gosh!). So other than that, things are good. I am excited and pretty nervous too. More later.

10 Day Count Down!

I know babies come when they want, so the ten days doesn't really mean much - EXCEPT THAT IT COULD BE ANY DAY NOW! We are getting excited. I have been having contractions on and off since Sunday. My next Doctor's appointment is on Thursday, so I will update. As of last week, I was 50% effaced. More later.

Room Progress

We had a busy weekend, but not working on the baby's room. Ha! Oh well, we still have five weeks right? We work better under pressure anyway. One thing we did get this weekend is a changing table. The Ocoffeys had a dresser/changing table left over from their kids and they gave it to us! It looks great with our crib too; what a blessing. Here are a couple of pictures.

Happy Friday!

Here is an intersection down the road from our house - what a coincidence! B and I took several pictures; we plan on playing with them a little and framing one for baby Preston's room. I'll take pictures of the room later this weekend, I hope to finish it all up then.

Evie Ruth!

Bekky had a beautiful baby girl on Tuesday, July 3rd. She weighed 7lbs 4oz and is 20.5 inches long. B and I came to SC to be with the family on Tuesday evening, it has been a wonderful visit. Seeing little Evie Ruth has gotten me anxious to meet my own sweet baby. Here are pictures of her.

Last year I posted on the annual Smallest Coolest Apartment contest that Apartment Therapy does every year. I am enjoying it again this year, but they've added a new contest this year for the Smallest Coolest Nursery. I am a sucker for this website. Below is a nursery I thought was cool.

I have bought a couple of things for Preston Boy's room. The hot air balloons looked kind of vintage to me, I bought a big one (about 2 ft)in the blue color and two smaller ones in orange and red. I thought I would hang them from the ceiling with monofilament. Now that the Living Room is finished, I can begin cleaning out the baby's room a little and start getting it ready.

Deacon

Two Sunday nights ago Brian was voted in as a Deacon for our church. This past Sunday he took vows and was prayed over by the elders. He is excited and I am so proud of him!

Chuck sent this news paper clipping from when B was a little boy. What a cutie.

Living Room is done!

Brian was able to finish the floors in the living room last week. I think they turned out very nice. He did a good job.

He did have a little trouble getting the armoire in the house though. :-) (love you honey)

Hello Again.

Well, now that I have probably lost all of my fan base - I have decided to update this much neglected blog. Here are some highlights on what has been going on in our lives.

We purchased our first home in December; we moved in the first of February. We are enjoying our own space - there are a lot of projects that need to be done. Before we moved in, we pulled up the carpet in the living room. My dad and B sanded the floors down, they look very nice. The weather has been so cold, we have not yet had the opportunity to stain and finish them - but I am looking forward to using that room soon.

We are also looking forward to decorating a baby's room. We will find out on Mar. 19 the gender; I am four months along. Currently this room has become a catch all for accessory type items that we have not found a place for in the rest of the house. I am excited about getting settled and organized before the baby arrives.

B has had the opportunity to teach twice in church now. He is being mentored by the pastor this semester and will have about four opportunities to preach on Wednesday nights. This has been such a blessing. He is also doing very well in his classes as well.

Urinals created by Clark Sorensen. I actually have a lady slipper orchid in bloom - looks just like the last urinal. I will post a picture of it later.

Observant?

I have been walking around work for an hour now with my sweater on wrong side out - my pride has been spared however, because I work with men and none of them have noticed.

Joe, Deb & AJ

Joe and Deb stopped in Louisville last night. We were able to visit with them for the evening. We all had a great chili dinner in the Airstream and then Brian and AJ went for a swim. It was so good to see them.
